Who is Dr. Richard Pitch?

Long Island Neurocare Therapy is a part of Neurocare Centers of America. We are a National network of centers of excellence committed to supporting patients suffering from neuropsychiatric disorders and for whom traditional medication control has not worked on them.

Dr. Richard Jay Pitch, a board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology psychiatrist, led the way for TMS therapy in the New York metropolitan zone, being one of the first physicians to provide this advanced technology in 2010. Dr. Richard Pitch leads the Long Island Neurocare team with more than twenty-five years of clinical depression experience.

Our team has registered nurses, certified TMS Therapy technicians, specialists in QEEG, Neurofeedback, and sleep-hygiene specialists. All staff is expertly trained to provide innovative therapies to our patients.

Richard Jay Pitch, MD, certified Psychiatrist since 1995 and TMS Psychiatrist since 2010. He completed his studies and graduated with honors from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, in 1985 and from the New York Health Science Center State University at Brooklyn, Downstate Medical Center, in 1991.

Dr. Pitch fulfilled his residency in psychiatry at Hillside Hospital-Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where he also served as Chief Resident in 1995. In addition, the National Alliance for the Mentally III awarded him as an Exemplary Psychiatrist.

In 2009, The Institute for Neuroscience Education certified him, with distinction, as a Master Psychopharmacologist. In 2010, he accomplished a mini-fellowship in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation from Harvard Medical School at the Berenson-Allen Brain Stimulation Center at Beth Israel-Deaconess Center in Boston.

Following residency, Dr. Richard Pitch stayed on the faculty at Hillside Hospital, supervised residents, and was the medical head of the Partial Hospitalization Program. He also was a research psychiatrist who participated in the First Episode Schizophrenia studies under the direction of John Kane, MD.

Dr. Richard J. Pitch published several articles and book chapters on the panic disorder in schizophrenia. Also, he co-authored two books on medical ethics and death and dying.

He has lectured in the community on depression, panic disorder, personality disorders, addiction, and neuromodulation techniques for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and clinical depression.

Additionally, to working in psychiatric hospitals, partial hospital programs, and nursing homes, Dr. Pitch has held a private outpatient practice since 1995. Currently, he works exclusively in his private outpatient practices in Medford and Melville, NY, where his treatment approach is integrative.

Dr. Pitch offers psychotherapy, medication management, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Therapy, and Neurofeedback at his practice. Patients with complex cases who have had difficulty with medications in the past often consult him.

Dr. Richard Pitch’s scope of practice includes diagnosis and treating mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD, OCD, attention deficit disorder, addictions, despair, and relationship difficulties.

Since 2010, he has provided TMS Therapy for individuals with major depressive disorder who can’t find relief with psychotherapy and medication.

In 2013, he became part of the recently formed Clinical TMS Society and helped grow that organization into the sizeable international society it is today. In addition, Dr. Richard Pitch is one of the members of the Board of Directors and chair of the annual scientific meeting.

He is present at the faculty PULSES, the TMS Society’s introductory training course for TMS practitioners, which was held in San Diego, Brooklyn, and London and will continue happening several times a year nationally and internationally.

Now, Dr. Pitch is collaborating with Neurocare Centers of America, a National organization from the United States. The Neurocare Centers of America clinics provide specialized and integrated treatment with customized solutions for ADHD, OCD, sleeping problems such as insomnia, and depression.
